Reiki
Reiki originated from Tibet and Northern India and was practiced by the Buddhists for centuries. It was further developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. Its’ Japanese translation is ‘Rei’ meaning ‘Universal Life’ and ‘Ki’ meaning ‘Energy.’
Life energy flows through us freely when we are in a positive state of health, however there are times when our life energy encounters blockages through outside influences such as stress at work. It is at such times that we can feel off balance, emotionally and/or physically. A relaxing Reiki session can treat insomnia, clear toxins from the body, restore balance and facilitate clients’ life energy force to flow freely once more leaving them feeling completely invigorated in mind, body and soul.
A typical Reiki session is completed on an individual basis, albeit group Reiki can also be facilitated. It will usually last up to 60 minutes, dependant on the clients needs. At the start of the Reiki session, the client is asked to remove their shoes and either lie on their backs on a massage table or sit comfortably in a chair, depending on their mobility. The Reiki Practitioner commences the treatment starting with positioning their hands on the clients’ head, progressing down their bodies in a non-intrusive way with the Reiki Practitioner hovering their hands above the clients’ body. At the end of the session the Reiki Practitioner will seal the Reiki into the client, leaving them with a deep feeling of wellness.
